1. Who is Comfortmaster?
Comfortmaster exists to give New Zealanders the power to have a better future. Because we believe that Cold and Unhealthy is just plain wrong. We sell exceptional products to exceptional people. Kiwis helping Kiwis!
2. What do Comfortmaster do?
Comfortmaster is a specialized heating, cooling, insulation and ventilation service organization, operating throughout NZ. We have a specialist team ready and trained to identify the best solution for your home or business. We can identify, design, cost and install the most energy efficient way of heating or cooling your place. Options can include heat pumps, wood burners, ventilation systems, insulation, air conditioning and/or gas ducted systems. Due to customer request, we have now extended our range to LED lighting and water filtration.
3. Where is Comfortmaster available?
We have a network of offices throughout the South and North Island. We employ a wide range of experienced and professional installers, contractors and service agents who are happy to visit the most remote locations from Bluff to Northland. We specialize in providing service to regional New Zealand, and take pride in our ability to say yes when others say no. Email info@comfortmaster.co.nz or call 0800 000798 to check out the nearest agent.
4. What products are used?
We use BRANZ appraised products and Energy Star rated appliances. We typically use products with Asthma trust marks and the highest fire ratings.
5. Who installs your products?
We have our own network of installers and service teams working all around New Zealand. We also have a wide range of strong relationships in the industry and can call in help for those trickier jobs. One of our consultants will assess your place, measure up and provide a detailed recommendation including estimated costs. If you choose to proceed, a team of installers will complete the installation. Our teams install to a very high standard and conduct independent audit samples to ensure consistent quality is maintained.
6. How long does it take to install?
The time and cost of the installation will be determined by the scale of the job and the logistics of each location. Most homes take approximately 5 hours to complete. Underfloor product is stapled up into the floor joists. In ceilings, a blanket product is used to seal in the warmth in winter, but keep the heat out in summer.
We pride ourselves in completing installation in homes or businesses that other providers say are inaccessible or too hard. In such locations, inaccessibility may make installations take longer and cost more.

7. What is the Eco Home Project?
The Eco home project is our own initiative as part of our desire to be kiwis helping kiwis. During our involvement in the Governments’ Heat Smart programme, we became aware of the need to give New Zealand homeowners a helping hand with their insulation and heating requirements. When the programme finished we still wanted to help in the community so partnered up with our main suppliers and contractors, which allowed us to offer assistance in pricing and payment plans to kiwis in need. We concentrate on three key areas, Insulation, Heating and Ventilation; the three areas that create the Healthy Home Triangle.
8. How does the Eco Home Project process work?
We always start with insulation because it is the cornerstone of a healthy home, our consultant will check the current insulation condition and check accessibility to the space. Next on the list are heating and ventilation. Our consultants are trained to carry out a thorough assessment – working alongside your priorities as the home owner- and make recommendations for improvement.
9. How does the pricing work and what discounts are available?
Our pricing differs region to region due to varying installation, logistics and storage costs. All regions have a maximum install price to allow for hard to install jobs. We offer discounts to this pricing if your home will be at Eco Home Project standard after our work is completed (this means all accessible areas of the home are insulated) irrespective of the type of install or your location- e.g. even if your home has difficult access, you can still qualify for a discount off the maximum install price.

10. How will the job be costed?
One of our consultants will visit your place and provide a detailed costing on the basis of:
- The scope and scale of the job
- The location of the job – how far do you live from a main centre? How far do our installers have to travel? Will they need to overnight away from home? Is your place accessible by road? Note: for travel anywhere in either the North or South Island a maximum travel rate of $150 may apply, except for travel to any offshore islands where an additional $150 ferry allowance may apply.
- The accessibility of insulation areas – there are many variables that can affect cost. For example, the location of the manhole, the distance between joists, the number of electrical appliances in the ceiling, height access.
- The consultant is able to take the above factors into account and give you a quote working from our maximum installed pricing.
11. Can I get a subsidy through the Government’s discount scheme?
The Government’s grants for home insulation only applies to rental properties with tenants on low incomes. The Government’s previous Heat Smart subsidies are no longer available hence our Eco Home Project initiative.
12. Do local councils subsidize anything?
There are some subsidies available in some local authority areas and certain criteria apply (for example, if you are removing a fireplace). Check out your local council’s website for clarification.
13. Is there any other financial help available?
We understand that financial flexibility is important as well as the fact insulating your home or business makes good economic sense. It will save you money in heating bills and warm, insulated buildings are healthier.
Comfortmaster has negotiated an arrangement with SBS Bank to help make insulation more affordable. SBS Bank offers extended pay-back plans and no-interest to customers of Comfortmaster who meet certain criteria. Check with our consultant to see if you qualify for this assistance.
